Antibiotic-infused agar plates are designed to effectively inhibit bacterial growth, thereby minimising the risk of contamination during your cultivation process. They're an ideal choice for working in a >>still air box or when >>germinating spores, ensuring cleaner and more reliable results.
These agar plates are not suitable for cultivating bacteria.
Please note:
- 5 & 20 pack options come in a sealed sterile bag, each plate is not individually wrapped. Only open these packs inside a Still Air Box or in front of a >> Laminar Flow Hood
- Individual Plates come individually wrapped in plastic film.
Our green wrapping film (option to add above) is an efficient and cost-effective solution, capable of sealing approximately 250-300 standard 90mm agar plates. It's incredibly simple to apply, offering a more affordable and user-friendly alternative to traditional parafilm. For optimal results and to prevent contamination, we strongly recommend wrapping your plates immediately after introducing your culture or spores.
Our agar mix is formulated with Sabouraud Dextrose Agar and antibiotics, making it an excellent choice for cultivating all commonly-grown mushroom species in New Zealand. Both wood-loving and dung- or compost-loving varieties thrive on this versatile blend, promoting healthy and vigorous mycelial development.
Will not work for mycorrhizal fungi such as porcini or truffles.

If you see a cracked plate or any growth on the agar plates before you have opened and used them, please send me a photo and we will choose to refund or replace the contaminated plates. While our contamination rates are very low, there will be the odd plate that does contaminate. This guarantee ends as soon sterile bag has been opened or plate unwrapped.
