Premium Turkey Tail (Trametes Versicolor) mushroom grain spawn – 100% colonised on locally sourced New Zealand grown wheat and ready to be mixed into your substrate for fruiting mushrooms. Spawn is ready to use as soon as it arrives.

Turkey Tail is one of the classic medicinal mushrooms. This strain produces attractive multicoloured fan-shaped brackets with concentric zones of brown, tan, white and blue-grey (resembling a turkey’s tail feathers), and a smooth white pore surface underneath. A reliable, vigorous, wood-loving mushroom, highly recommended wild strain that tolerates a wide range of temperatures and growing conditions!

Unique Culture Information

  • Incubation time & temperature: 14-28 days @ 23-25°C
  • Fruiting temperature: 13-24°C

  • Ideal Fruiting Humidity: 70-90%
  • Native status: Native + grows wild on every continent.
  • Recommended Fruiting Substrates:  Masters Mix (50% wood pellets / 50% soy hulls) or 20% Bran + 80% Pine Fire Pellets. Also grows well on hardwood sawdusts.

  • Growing Style:  Side fruiting, cut slits or rectangle hole in filter patch bag.

Receiving Spawn:

  • Upon receiving your spawn it is ideal to take it out of the box within a day or two, stand the top of the bag up so the filter patch is exposed and the spawn can breath. Keep in a room temperature (10-25°C) place out of direct sunlight until used.

TESTIMONIALS

"Excellent service!

Sporeshift have consistently got the best service of any online provider I have used. From the time of order to delivery the communication is great. I frequently wonder why other businesses can't to it the way they do. Excellence in action. And no, I am not their mother ... just a satisfied customer and mushroom lover. :)"

"As a budding mycologist I just want to say how much I appreciate the investment in getting these new Species/ Phenos approved through MPI. I do hope you are aware that it opens the door for ALL of us here in NZ to learn about, grow and study an otherwise inaccessible taxonomical branch and that this kind of effort is extremely appreciated!"
